About Us
Iyengar yoga is for all bodies, all ages, and all physical conditions. You are never too stiff or too old for yoga. 12South Iyengar Yoga Center welcomes everyone that comes through our doors. Our mission is to provide the best teachers, well trained in the Iyengar tradition, and to provide classes that suit the needs of all level students, from beginners to advanced students.
Our center has provided precise, intelligent and effective instruction in the method of Iyengar yoga since 1999. Our studio's light-filled, peaceful space is located in the heart of the 12South District. The studio is fully equipped with custom-made rope walls as well as other props used in the practice of Iyengar yoga. We also sell yoga props, books, instructional videos and yoga clothing.
12South offers over 25 regularly scheduled classes each week. All classes are tiered to suit your level of experience. We teach classes for the newest of beginners and we teach classes that challenge our most advanced students as well. Our classes include:
- A free yoga class for beginners
- Prenatal yoga
- Gentle yoga
- Restorative yoga
- Earlybird classes
- Continuing Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced yoga classes
- Yoga for Teens
- Workshops with senior teachers from the Iyengar Yoga community and special events

12South Iyengar Center
Welcome to 12South! We proudly support the inspirational teachings of Sri BKS Iyengar. To learn more about Iyengar yoga, you can visit the IYNAUS website. 12South Yoga instructors are all certified, or working towards certification in the Iyengar method of yoga. All teachers are certified through IYNAUS (Iyengar Yoga National Association of the US). IYNAUS is an organization whose sole mission is to promote, disseminate, and continue the teachings of Sri BKS Iyengar. The requirements to become a certified Iyengar teacher are rigorous and require years of practice, study, and apprenticing senior teachers. The certification exams ensure that only the most well trained and practiced teachers wear the certification mark.
